Shahbagh Intersection Blocked as Protesters Demand Home Affairs Adviser’s Resignation

Members of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti, the student wing of the National Citizen Party (NCP), blocked the Shahbagh intersection in the capital on Monday, demanding the resignation of the home affairs adviser.

The protesters took to the streets around 12:45 pm, causing a complete standstill in traffic in the area.

The demand was raised in protest against what they described as the authorities’ failure to arrest those involved in the attempted killing of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, convener of Inqilab Moncho and a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, as well as the overall deterioration of law and order in the country.

Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Moniruzzaman told Prothom Alo that protesters were blocking the intersection and that police were working to bring the situation under control.
