Tarique Rahman pays respects at father’s grave

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman visited the grave of his father, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area at 4:42 pm today, Friday.

During the visit, he paid homage by placing flowers at the grave and later offered prayers.

Tarique Rahman left his Gulshan residence shortly before 3:00 pm for Zia Udyan, travelling on the same red-and-green decorated bus he used yesterday while going from the airport to the venue of the public reception. As on the previous day, he stood at the front of the bus and waved to party leaders and activists. Due to the large gathering, the convoy moved slowly.

Since morning, leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organisations had assembled in and around Zia Udyan, carrying party flags as well as banners and posters.

After paying respects at his father’s grave, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War.

Tarique Rahman returned to the country yesterday, Thursday, after 17 years abroad.
