T20 World Cup: Bangladesh to Skip Tournament in India

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul has said there is no scope to reconsider Bangladesh’s decision not to participate in the T20 World Cup in India due to security concerns.

He noted that the International Cricket Council (ICC) did not act impartially by rejecting Bangladesh’s request for a venue change, expressing hope that the global body will act fairly in the future.

Asif Nazrul made the remarks on Thursday after a meeting with national cricketers at the InterContinental Hotel.

He clarified that the decision not to travel to India for the World Cup was taken by the government and remains unchanged, as the security situation that prompted the decision has not improved.

Following the adviser’s comments, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam also spoke to the media, saying the board is still keen to play the World Cup matches in Sri Lanka and will continue efforts in that direction.
