BNP Leader Aazam Khan Briefs:

“Khaleda Zia in a Very Critical Condition”

BNP vice-chairman Ahmed Aazam Khan has said that Khaleda Zia’s health has deteriorated to a “very critical condition,” noting that her situation worsened since Sunday night.

Speaking to the media around 1:45 pm on Monday in front of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, Aazam Khan provided the latest update on the BNP chairperson’s condition.

“Since last night, madam’s condition has become extremely critical. She is fighting to come back to us,” he said. “At this moment, she is not stable enough for us to say anything more. We have nothing to seek except the prayers of the entire nation.”

He added that Khaleda Zia is currently on ventilation support. “From CCU to ICU and then ventilation or life support—she is now in a very critical stage.”

According to Aazam Khan, medical specialists from the United States, the United Kingdom, and now China have joined the treatment efforts. “Everyone is doing everything they can. The rest is in God’s hands,” he said.

Khaleda Zia has been hospitalised for a week with a severe liver-related crisis, decreased kidney function, respiratory problems, and several other complications.
She was admitted to Evercare Hospital on 23 November, where tests later confirmed a lung infection.

Earlier, the BNP secretary general reported on Thursday that her condition was “extremely critical,” and the following day stated that she was not physically fit to be taken abroad for advanced treatment.
