  PM seeks OIC support to resolve Rohingya crisis Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today sought support from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to help resolve the Rohingya crisis. Jamaat Leader Detained at Airport with Tk 7.4m, Say Police

Police have reported that Tk 7.4 million was recovered from Belal Uddin Pradhan, ameer of Thakurgaon district Jamaat, who was detained at Syedpur Airport in Nilphamari on Wednesday, a day before the polls. He was held with the cash at around 11:00 am.

Syedpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Karim told Prothom Alo in the afternoon that the total amount seized was Tk 7.4 million and that legal നടപടions are underway. He said the army, acting on intelligence information, initially detained Belal Uddin at the airport and later handed him over to police.

Earlier, at about 12:45 pm, Nilphamari Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zahidul Islam confirmed the detention but said the cash had not yet been counted. At the time, the detained leader claimed he had more than Tk 5 million in his possession. Police stated the money would be counted in the presence of relevant officials.

After counting, law enforcement confirmed the total amount was Tk 7.4 million.

Sources said Belal Uddin had flown from Dhaka to Syedpur and was detained based on intelligence suggesting he was carrying approximately Tk 4 million in his bag. Thakurgaon district Jamaat office secretary Abdul Mannan was with him at the airport but was not detained.
