US Visa Bond

  The US State Department is planning to make permanent a visa bond program that affects applicants from 50 countries, including Bangladesh. Under this program, visa applicants may need to deposit a bond of up to $20,000 to obtain a US visa, as stated in a notice published by the Trump administration. This applies to B1 and B2 visas , which are for business and tourism travel. The notice explains that consular officers may require visa applicants from the covered countries to post a bond of up to $20,000 as a condition for visa issuance. The program builds on a 2025 pilot that allowed bonds of  5 , 000 , 5,000, 10,000, or  15 , 000. T h e f i n a l r u l e r e m o v e s t h e 15,000. The final rule removes the 5,000 option and raises the maximum bond to $20,000. It will take effect on August 3 upon publication in the Federal Register.
