US and Iran Signal Peace Deal Is Near as Tehran Claims Victory The United States and Iran signaled on Friday that they are close to reaching an agreement to end their conflict, with a senior U.S. administration official saying both sides have agreed on a draft text and that Washington expects an initial deal to be signed within days. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said some details remain under discussion but argued that the tentative agreement demonstrates Iran’s strength following the war. “Iran is the winner of the war with the U.S.,” Araqchi said in an interview on state television. According to sources involved in the negotiations, the proposed memorandum of understanding would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports. Government to Recruit 500,000 Employees; Hiring Underway for 2,879 Public Administration Posts, PM Tells Parliament

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today informed the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that the government has decided to recruit 500,000 employees to fill vacancies across the public sector, with recruitment already underway for 2,879 positions under the Ministry of Public Administration and its affiliated offices.

Speaking in parliament, the prime minister said numerous government posts remain vacant and that filling them is essential to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public services.

“I would like to inform this august House that there are vacancies in various government institutions. Filling these positions is important to make government services more dynamic and to ensure easier and more effective service delivery to the people. The government is reviewing the matter with the highest priority,” he said.

“We will begin the recruitment process for these vacant posts as soon as possible, InShaAllah,” he added.

Tarique Rahman made the remarks while responding to a supplementary question from ruling party lawmaker Md Abul Kalam of Cumilla-9, with Speaker Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, presiding over the session.

In response to a starred question from ruling party MP Md Shamsur Rahman Simul Biswas of Pabna-5, the prime minister said the government had approved the recruitment of 500,000 employees. He noted that hiring activities are currently in progress for 2,879 vacant posts under the Ministry of Public Administration and its subordinate departments and agencies.

As Simul Biswas was absent, the question was placed before the House by ruling party MP AKM Selim Reza Habib of Pabna-2.

Replying to another supplementary question from ruling party lawmaker Anisur Rahaman, Tarique Rahman said his government is committed to balanced development across the country.

Addressing the Speaker, he recalled a recent meeting of the parliamentary committee responsible for overseeing House proceedings, which was attended by the Leader of the Opposition.

“The opposition leader mentioned that some government assistance distributed before Eid may not have reached certain opposition lawmakers,” the prime minister said.

“Immediately after the meeting, I instructed both the minister and the state minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) to ensure that any opposition members who had not received the assistance would receive it promptly,” he added.

According to the premier, the directive reflected the government's commitment to equitable development regardless of political affiliation.

“By giving that instruction, I wanted to demonstrate that the current government believes in balanced development throughout the country,” he said.

Tarique Rahman further stated that while ruling party lawmakers would continue working for the development of their constituencies, the government would extend full cooperation to opposition MPs as well.

“We will make equal efforts to support development initiatives in constituencies represented by opposition members,” he said.
